LEJOG 2020 Complete

Back in march after the first national lockdown due to covid 19 was put in place I signed up to the Lands End to John O Groats 874 Miles Virtual Race to get myself back motivated to go out for a run after races/parkrun and club runs were suspended/cancelled. For 2020 i originally set out to aim for 750 runs which is a fair amount given previous years 2018 (540 miles) and 2019 (654 Miles) were achieved.

When may came around I started to pick up on the miles joining the yearly Miles for Mind challenge i got myself out on a few longer runs and  eventually after first 6 months of the year was almost at 500 miles. Ran the St Aidans 10k Virtually with another club member in July. Then after another 100 miles month in august the target was well in sight for a november finish. I ran a virtual half marathon at the end of september and what has been a year of virtual races signed up to the Leave Nothing But Footprints with my cousin Jack which like Miles for Mind raises vital funds for Mental Health charity Mind also joining the New York Road Runners global community virtual races with distances between 1 and 10 Miles.

It has been a tough year terms of missing races and parkrun and running with the club on a tuesday night but personally i feel great that i have reached my 874 target in early november and will now see what the next month holds for final year distance then in 2021 aim for 1000 miles.
